I was scrolling through Instagram one morning and came across a clay maker who had created a really cute two-piece swimsuit clay cutter set. I immediately knew that I had to have that cutter set so I clicked on over to her website and placed my order. Along with the cutter I purchased a couple of water-soluble transfer sheets. I thought that one in particular would work really well with the swimsuit cutter and I could not wait for them to arrive. I decided to start out with the tropical pink and blue print designed transfer sheet.
I rolled out my white clay, adhered the transfer sheet and began to choose my cutters, knowing that I wanted to create an entire collection created around this transfer sheet and the swimsuit cutter. The top piece of the two-piece swimsuit cutter is rather intricate, so I wanted to make sure that I dipped the cutter in a water and soap drenched sponge before I pushed the cutter down into the clay. I also used the method where I pushed the cutter down into the clay ever so slightly and then pulled it up before I pushed the cutter all the way through the clay.
That method coupled with dipping the cutter in water and soap works really well for me. I didn't want to make too many pairs of the swimsuit earrings because I didn't know how well received they would be so I ended up cutting out enough shapes to make four pairs. I used the rest of the slab to cut out shapes for two additional style dangle earrings. I then mixed up three colors of clay that matched the floral print and used those three colors to create a pair of dangles for a total of four styles for this collection. I love the way it turned out!
I then grabbed one of the other transfer sheets that reminds me of a citrus orchard that I purchased and decided to make some swimsuit dangle earrings from this and they turned out so darling!
